Why is everyone eating 12 grapes under the table at Midnight on New Year eve's?

Certainly, The tradition of eating 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight on new year eve's is known as "Las Doce Uvas de la Suerte" (The Twelve Grapes of Luck).

Originating in Spain, it has spread to various Spanish- speaking countries, especially in Latin America.

As the clock counts down to the midnight, people gather with the bowls of 12 grapes. one for each chime of the clock.

the goal is to eat one grape with each chime. making a wish for the upcoming year with each grape consumed.
